ABOUT CHARIS PHOTO

'Charis' from the Greek for grace, or gift. It’s a reminder that this work isn’t mine to claim, but something shared with me — and something I’m grateful to share in return. It’s more than just a name; it’s the heartbeat of this work.

Every time I lift my camera, I’m reminded that what I do isn’t simply a skill I’ve mastered or a switch I can turn on. It’s a gift — one I didn’t earn but was graciously given by the One who first extended grace to me. Because of that, I approach every session with open hands and a heart of gratitude. I want to serve others with the same grace I’ve received — to help people see beauty in their stories, value in their work, and purpose in the everyday.

I’m Lauren, Penn State graduate and the photographer and designer behind Charis Photo. I've spent years clicking the shutter, trying to freeze moments in time — the laugh that bursts too loud, the in-between glance no one else saw, the light that makes you stop and breathe for a second. My goal is to help you see what I see: that every person is a treasure, every day a gift, and every image a reminder of grace.

Whether I’m capturing milestones, documenting everyday life, crafting visual stories for brands, or showcasing the character of a space — my heart remains the same: to notice the details, honor the story, and reflect the beauty that’s already there.

Because at Charis, it’s never just about taking pictures.

It’s about seeing through the lens of grace — and sharing that view with you.
